Pharmacology
This formulation combines non-systemic acid-neutralizing agents and antiflatulent properties. Aluminium Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide work together to neutralize gastric acid secreted by the stomach’s parietal cells, providing relief from ulcers. Simethicone, known for its antifoam properties, spreads across the surface of aqueous liquids in the gastrointestinal tract, forming a film of low surface tension that collapses foam bubbles. This action facilitates the coalescence and expulsion of gas bubbles, aiding in the treatment of flatulence, meteorism, and abdominal distension. It is also useful in preparing the gastrointestinal tract for radiography and alleviating dyspepsia.
Simethicone is physiologically inert and does not interfere with gastric secretion or nutrient absorption. It is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and is excreted unchanged in the feces following oral administration.
